Bessie
Bessie is yet another aquatic cryptid with similarities to the famous Loch Ness Monster. Multiple sightings before the year 2000 suggest there may be an unknown creature living in the depths of Lake Erie.
Witnesses describe seeing a large snake-like creature that was over 30 feet in length emerging from the lake. There's been many stories of locals encounters with Bessie some claim to have shot the beast while others claim it was captured and to have found its scales scatted on the beach.
The possible explanations for the " South Bay Bessie" are similar to the ones used to explain Loch Ness Monster, from being a surviving plesiosaur to being a massive sturgeon. The reality of this beast is unknown like most cryptids however after learning about some of these stories it makes me increasingly nervous to get into any large body of water.
