Jersey Devil
The Jersey Devil is most legendary creature in New Jersey folklore. Its first reported sighting was in the early 18th century. The origin of this creature is very disturbing, the creature is said to be the offspring of a woman named Mother Leeds, who, after becoming pregnant for the thirteenth time, cursed her child, declaring it would be the Devil.
Locals believe the infant transformed into a monstrous entity with bat-like wings, a horse head, and the ability to make blood curdling screams. Numerous witnesses over the years have suggested that the creature roams the Pine Barrens, a thick patch of forest in the state.
There's been no conclusive evidence to confirm its existence however that hasn't stopped this cryptid from becoming a famous cultural icon of New Jersey..
